This layer represents the Conservation BluePrint Version 1 for the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative. It depicts the Priority Resources that are the focus of terrestrial conservation planning.
The Priority Resources (PR) are the set of biological, ecological, and cultural features and ecological processes collaboratively identified as most important. Priority Resources included in the terrestrial portion of the Blueprint are: Coastal Uplands, High Pine and Scrub, Pine Flatwoods and Dry Prairie, Hardwood Forested Uplands, Freshwater Forested Wetlands, Freshwater Aquatic (Rivers, Lakes, Springs), Freshwater Non-Forested Wetlands, Working Lands and Socio-Economic, and Landscape Connectivity. The Blueprint was derived from the Cooperative Land Cover (CLC) 3.2 (2016).
The Blueprint was further refined using the top two priorities from the CLIP 4.0 Aggregated Priorities Model (August, 2016). This model combines the conservation priorities from the Biodiversity, Landscapes, and Surface Waters Resource Priority models -- and the underlying CLIP Core Data Layers. Priorities range from 1 (highest Priority areas for conservation) to 5 (lowest priority above no priority). For additional information, see the website: CLIP 4.0 ( http://www.fnai.org/clip.cfm).
Mapping Steps:
Priority Resources based on land covers were developed by classifying appropriate land covers into their associated Priority Resource, and then further refined using the CLIP 4.0 Aggregated Priorities -- 1 and 2 -- as a mask to exclude habitats in lower priority classes. The Connectivity PR was added to the habitat-based PR's by including Priorities 1-3 of CLIP 4.0 Landscape Priorities layer. Habitat-based PR s already include Landscape Priorities 1-2 by default, as part of the Aggregated Priorities model.
The Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC) is part of a national network of Landscape Conservation Cooperatives(LCCs). LCCs are applied conservation science partnerships among federal agencies, regional organizations, states, tribes, NGOs, private stakeholders, universities...
